Equity in Care. Dignity in Recovery. Strength in Adherence.
To advance equity, restore dignity, and strengthen treatment adherence for individuals affected by TB — through patient-centered support, culturally grounded education, and partnerships that address the social determinants of health.
Founded in 2025 and headquartered in Norfolk, Virginia, FERI-TB is a 501(c)(3) public charity serving Virginia and Maryland. Our work sits at the intersection of infection prevention, community health, and health equity — informed by epidemiologic evidence and designed for community-based delivery.
Samuel D. Worgee, MPH, DrPH, CIC · Founder & CEO
Samuel D. Worgee is a board-certified infection preventionist and public health professional with experience in U.S. health systems and international outbreak response, including Ebola response in Liberia.
He holds an MPH and earned his DrPH at Walden University. His doctoral study examined employment status, housing stability, and tuberculosis treatment adherence in Virginia. That focus on the social conditions around care informs FERI-TB’s mission and community navigation approach.
A board built at the intersection of clinical, scientific, and community expertise.
FERI-TB is governed by a board whose credentials span infectious disease clinical practice, pharmacy, molecular biology, microbiology, and public health — the disciplines that together define modern TB response.
Values that shape every partnership, every program, every patient interaction.
Evidence-Informed
Every program we build is grounded in the epidemiologic and social science literature on TB adherence and structural determinants — and evaluated with the same rigor.
Community-Centered
The people most affected by TB — immigrant and refugee communities, unstably housed patients, low-income workers — are the ones our programs are designed around.
Dignity-First
TB treatment can take months. People deserve understandable information and support that respects their circumstances and choices.
